The couple got married in a private ceremony held on December 14 in Saina's house.
Twitter is flooded with congratulatory notes for the latest celebrity couple in town. The year of weddings that 2018 has been also saw ace badminton players Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap announce their marriage on Twitter on Friday. But unlike the big fat weddings of the year, the couple got married in a simple ceremony that was held at Saina’s residence on Friday morning and registered their marriage. Saina and Kashyap are rumoured to have made the match official after a relationship of almost a decade.
Speaking to PTI, Saina’s father Harvir Singh said that the ceremony was held at their residence in Orion Villas in Cyberabad and was attended by around 40 guests, which included only their close family and friends.
"It was a small gathering of about 40 guests, including relatives from Saina and Kashyap's families. It was a very simple ceremony and the reception will be held on December 16," Singh said.
Saina and Kashyap, both students at the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Training Academy, have been co-players and friends for a long time. In a viral photo that is doing the rounds on social media, both Saina and Kashyap can be seen as teenagers, holding a badminton racket each in their hands. After the couple announced their wedding on Twitter, calling it the ‘best match of their lives’, Twitteratis are wishing their favourite sports couple the best in the ‘mixed doubles game of life’!

Soon after the wedding was announced, the couple was seen heading towards the Isha Ambani reception held in Mumbai on Friday evening. In a picture posted on Twitter before the event, Saina looked elegant in a black gown designed by Shravya Sharma, who was also the couple’s stylist for the wedding ceremony.
Saina and Kashyap had announced their wedding in October this year after keeping the relationship in wraps for almost a decade. The couple will be holding a reception at the Novotel Hotel in Hyderabad on December 16, where celebrities and prominent personalities are expected to attend the function, including the governors of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
